We had 2 days off....because it was -2349859456 degrees out...funny thing is we would have stayed home anyway. Kdog and I have the sickies....(this is my third time with cough/cold!!) Mine is mostly in my head and with the meds and the clutter you see below I can survive. K was just a cough.
NO fever
NO puking
NO headache
So I figured why take her in??? We did the vaporizer, cough syrup, warm liquid, cold liquid, hot baths before bed, Vicks, elevated head...hell I even tried Vicks on her feet which some people believe in...
SO after 2 days off last night she was up from 1:30am-3:00am...(*side note I was amazingly patient and calm..I must be getting ready for long nights!)
Tonight she has a B-day party, tomorrow a sleepover and Sat we are gong to see the new baby! Well I can't let her go these place SICK! AND COUGHING! So we need to cram a Dr. appointment in before the B-day party...if she is sick she can't go but if she is not I need some STRONG ASS COUGH MEDICINE for bedtime!!

I know lately I have been venting about K's behavior....2 days INSIDE -WITH THE DOG would normally have me heading for the anitdepressants, but it actually went really well... I think 7 to 8 is a hard year with some hormones coming in, wanting to be a preteen, testing out new words and eyerolls....
I tried really hard to be patient ( but not give in) the more UNreactive I am the more quickly she gets over things...I think somewhere deep down she WANTS a reaction out of me...not that she enjoys being yelled at or being disciplined but doesn't think far enough ahead to avoid that when trying to get me riled up!!
I read this AWESOME BOOK COMEBACK...and it deals with teens and drugs...and when they come home from rehab how the word "BUMMER" really works...like The other kids can go the party!!! It is not fair!" Parents just respond BUMMER! I am not comparing raising an 8 year old with drug use, but the word BUMMER just says to her...sorry about that, but I am not changing my mind....
Now I would like to add that me NOT reacting is HARD...I am a passionate person both in love and war, but the results have been paying off slowly. I am sure tomorrow will bring a new challenge and I may regret my actions again but for this moment even with the annoyingass cough...I feel good about my daughter and I.
